English Heritage Rural Synthesis Workshop

On Wednesday 16th October the Hive was host to an English Heritage Rural Synthesis Workshop. The aim of the workshop was to examine different scales and perspectives for identifying, understanding and protecting the historic character and significance of heritage features, within their landscape and settlement context, with a view to informing the next phase of the National Heritage Protection Plan (NHPP).

The morning session focused on key issues and opportunities affecting rural settlement in the West Midlands, Worcestershire and Warwickshire, including the suite of characterisation products now available to assess rural buildings in their landscape setting. The afternoon was spent ‘out in the field’ discussing estate and smallholder landscapes in and around Bromsberrow and Castlemorton Common.
